Founded in 1996, Nebraska Appleseed focuses on advancing policies and practices that promote self-sufficiency for Nebraska's working poor families, promotes the integration and participation of immigrant populations in communities across Nebraska, provides safe and adequate child welfare services to children who need protection, and increases low-income people's access to the legal system and support democracy by removing barriers to low-income people's participation in the electoral and public policy decision-making processes.
Dream Fund Project
With Dream Fund funding from the Strategic Opportunities Fund, Nebraska Appleseed is raising awareness among target audiences about the importance of affirmative action policies in creating opportunity for women and people of color and using strategic communications tools to help create a viable network of organizations that can address racial equity issues. Nebraska Appleseed aims to deepen the communications capacity of network members and community leaders by engaging in communications skill building activities, such as messaging and spokesperson trainings and guidance on navigating issues of race among different communities.
