The Gamaliel Foundation strives to be a powerful network of grassroots, interfaith, interracial, multi-issue organizations working together to create a more just and democratic society. Gamaliel seeks to agitate for social change by supporting the efforts of a network of organizations whose goal is to allow for individuals to "effectively participate" in the political, environmental, social and economic arenas.

Gamaliel's work focuses on developing and refining a metropolitan wide organizing methodology to work for racial and economic equity by expanding access to opportunity to employment, education, transportation, and housing in each metropolitan region.

Dream Fund Project

The Gamaliel Foundation received support from the Dream Fund to implement workforce development agreements that increase job opportunities for minorities, low-income people and women as a result of the $286 billion Federal Highway Bill: SAFETEA-LU. Having successfully advocated for the inclusion of the workforce development agreements in the bill, Gamaliel worked with other allied organizations throughout the U.S. to implement workforce development agreements and policies on the city, county and state level which will direct a substantial percentage of jobs to local communities, where primarily persons of color and low-income people reside.
