Colorado Progressive Coalition (CPC) was formed in 1996 by community activists and leaders who were fed up with the increasing power of conservative forces in Colorado. CPC builds coalitions, conducts research, organizes communities, gets out the vote, develops new leaders, registers thousands of new voters each year and builds a progressive future for Colorado on issues of racial, economic, health, environmental, and social justice. CPC is a non-profit, non-partisan grassroots organization with 5,500 members in 80 towns and cities. CPC has a staff of 15 with offices in Denver (headquarters), Greeley (Northern Colorado), and Pueblo (Southern Colorado).

Dream Fund Project

In partnership with 9to5, National Association for Working Women, CPC is being funded to support the Colorado Affirmative Action Strategic Communications Project. CPC and 9to5 seek to utilize strategic communications to educate key audiences on the importance of equal opportunity policies and programs in Colorado. To accomplish this objective, CPC and 9to5 will raise awareness among target audiences about the importance of affirmative action policies in creating opportunity for women and people of color. They also seek to deepen the communications capacity of members and community leaders by engaging in communications skill building activities, such as messaging and spokesperson trainings and guidance on navigating issues of race among different communities.
