The California Coalition to Analyze the Impact of Proposition 209 (the Impact 209 Coalition) is a broad-based coalition of advocates, organizations, scholars and students formed to initiate analysis on the statewide educational and economic harms resulting from the passage of Proposition 209 (Prop 209) in 1996. The goal of the Coalition is to cultivate a statewide infrastructure that 1) develops a keen understanding of the ten-year impact of Prop 209, and 2) positions itself to propose policy alternatives to mitigate the negative impacts of Prop 209. The Equal Justice Society (EJS), the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights (LCCR) and the ACLU of Northern California are leading members of the Coalition's Executive Committee. Other organizational members include Applied Research Center, Chinese for Affirmative Action, Discrimination Research Center, People for the American Way, Greenlining Institute, Leadership Conference on Civil Rights, Nat'l Economic Development Law Center and many other academics, groups and individuals. The Impact209.org blog/website and email distribution lists are both managed by the communications committee. It currently provides information related to Prop 209, the October symposium, relevant news, a Flash slideshow of the Lake Snell Perry 2006 poll, and contact details. In addition to serving as the primary online public information repository for the coalition, the site allows users to register for the Impact 209 listserv and will also soon provide for file downloads and symposium online registration.
